Pool Video
When you hear someone in the media talk about a pool feed it doesn’t mean we are getting the bathing suits out and then having lunch. Instead it is another one of those funny terms we use…
As a viewer you have seen pool video you but may not have known what it was called. The Nifong hearings are a great example of a pool feed.
With so many media outlets from across the country in town for the hearings, space is limited. It is one thing to fit 50 people in a room to follow the hearings. It is something even bigger to add all the lights and cameras that go with each and every media outlet. To save space only one station, in this case Court TV, has cameras in the room and then they provide the rest of us access to those cameras.
This time around it is on a live satellite we can all see. We use pool feeds often in the media when it comes to court proceedings, stump speeches and other large media events when space is limited.
I hope this provided some insight…please feel free to post any questions you may have.
