You Choose 2008
The political season is in full swing, it seems we can’t turn on the television, radio or internet without a constant reminder, May 6th is voting day. I knew North Carolina would play a major role in this years election, but I had no idea it would be like this. As you can imagine the assignment desk is flooded with campaign announcements and appearances, from each and every office imaginable. No matter what your political affiliation may be, you have to admit the last few weeks have been pretty exciting.
Times like this I wish I was an average person not working in media, so I too could attend all of the fun gatherings inspiring people to vote. Or better have the ability to post and reply on social networking sites about politics in general. As a journalist the two key components that have to be met when covering any race is FAIR & BALANCED. Of course this is the case for any news story, but this is sometimes easy to forget when dealing with politics, thankfully we do not. This is why you (the viewer) may see a news story of Hillary Clinton in Cary, followed by Barack Obama in Indiana and John McCain in New York. As a news organization our goal is provide the public with all of the information possible so you can deicide.
Happy Voting,
Dominique Hogue
